August 3, 2008 - Praise
the Lord we are all in good health! There have been some warm
days so far this summer but as well continuous days of rain.
Bible study by correspondence continues with Adu and Aimre. Psalm
118:6-9 was very comforting to Adu the past week since a long time
friend had robbed him of some money and documents. Heigo is
slowly recovering and he and I speak a couple of times a week by phone.
Last month's visit with him also gave opportunity to preach to
him and three others in his room and later to eight elderly women in
their lounge. I had my guitar with me and we sang "This is
the day that the Lord hath made." Märt is continually
faithful to meetings for which we are thankful. We do pray for
his spiritual growth and need to be baptised. The youth home is
closing and most of the children have now moved away to various towns
so we may never see them again.
I got to know some of our neighbors a little better this past month.
They were fairly indifferent to the gospel but respectful of my
faith. As usual, there is opposition to the gospel when
witnessing but there are also others who will at least accept a tract.
Please keep us in prayer as we will travel to the states for the month
of September. During the first week we will present our ministry
to a church in Tennessee. After that I'll be in California for a
week to spend time with my mom and deal with some of her business
matters. During that time Denise and Olivia will be with her mom
in Wisconsin and I'll finish the month with them there.
June 1, 2008
Summer is always a welcomed time of year after the long and
dark winter. Please pray that the gospel will also be welcomed
message as well. “Except the Lord build
the house they labor in vain that build it.”
The
past month God blessed with the attendance of four teens. None have yet
expressed faith in Christ so please pray for them. Since last summer thousands of tracts have been given out and
three people have responded. One who has replied is a spry 78 year old woman, and
I’ve kept in correspondence with her by mail; we met her for the first time
last month. Her testimony is that she
asked the Lord to be Savior over ten years ago in the Pentecostal church in
Tallinn. Heigo is recovering well
enough from his stroke that he has completed two Bible studies by mail. Since he lives over two hours a way, we
visit him once a month. Finally, we are in the final translation of a tract that I’ve written, “Of more Value than
God.” Several Estonians have helped tweak the text, and my wife has prepared a cover graphic.
Do
pray that the word of God goes forth.
We never know how many people will be saved from reading the
gospel. It is always encouraging when a
tract is accepted, but discouraging when people are offended. Two neighbors, older men, were like that
when I tried again to speak to them this the past month. I invited one to a meeting and with the
other I tried to engage in conversation.
They both reacted with great opposition. One thing that keeps me going is the knowledge that there are many who
have not yet heard.
